Grief Support - Alliance for Suicide Prevention of Larimer County

Support groups

Grief following a suicide is a complex and overwhelming experience. A suicide death leaves many unanswered questions. Every person grieves in their own way. At different times, people may feel: sadness, denial, relief, guilt, fatigue, loss, anger, shame, fear, disconnected from reality.

The stigma surrounding suicide can isolate families. Often, family members can become isolated from each other as they each struggle to grieve in their own way. There are no time limits to grief. Individuals can find a community of support at this grief support group, facilitated by 3Hopeful Hearts. It is free of charge and drop-ins are welcome.

Support GroupS

Heartbeat

This monthly grief support group is for individuals who are grieving the loss of a loved one to suicide. Heartbeat does not replace therapy. The healing achieved within this group is the result of understanding, encouragement and caring. Privacy and confidentiality are respected. This group is offered free of charge.

The Heartbeat Grief Support Group meets the 1st Tuesday (in-person) and 3rd Wednesday (virtual) of every month from 6:30-8:00 PM. Each grief support group is free of charge.

Please RSVP *here* and the Zoom information will be shared with you.

Contact lorelai@suicideprevent.org for questions or a pre-group meeting.

Teen Heartbeat

Teens struggle after losing someone they know and love to suicide. They don’t have to do it alone. Teen Heartbeat is an opportunity for teens to check in with other teens.

Teens help themselves and others by talking and sharing about similar experiences related to suicide loss. They decide what they need to talk about, with an adult facilitator available to support the conversations. Teens who’ve suffered the loss of a friend, family member, teacher or relative say they prefer to work through their grief with other survivors in a safe space, free of judgement and stigma. Teen Heartbeat is that place.

This group is currently not meeting due to lack of attendance. If you have a teen grieving the loss of a loved one to suicide, please reach out to grief@suicideprevent.org for further support and resources.

Child Loss by Suicide Support Group

The You’re Not Alone Grief Support Group meets the 3rd Thursday of every month from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM . This is a collaborative group with the Alliance for Suicide Prevention and 3Hopeful Hearts.

This support group provides a safe space for families who have experienced the death of a child by suicide. It is a free community group and drop-ins are welcome.
